Friends of Torridon PTA together with Sandalls PTA are thrilled to team up for our 5th annual 10K/half-marathon!
Runners/walkers will start at Torridon and finish at Sandhurst, with a celebratory Play Street at the finish line on Minard Road.
Staff, parents, carers, friends all invited to get involved: running, walking, volunteering or cheering - GO CORBETT TEAMS!
So get those laces tied and start training to represent your school!
Who can enter the race?
Parents, carers, staff, friends and family of Torridon, Sandhurst, and Rushey Green Primary Schools are all welcome to enter! Runners, joggers, and walkers can take part in the 10K. The half marathon is open to runners only. If primary school age children would like to participate in the 10K, an adult must accompany them and take full responsibility. Please note that the course includes busy roads that will be open to traffic.
How much does entry cost?
There's no fixed cost to enter, and everyone is welcome to participate whether they make a donation or not. We do encourage participants to seek sponsorship donations from their family and friends, and we hope the wider community will support the racers' efforts by contributing to their school's PTA if they can.

What's included with entry?
Participants will get a race number and if they're from Sandhurst or Torridon, a school-branded unisex vest to wear over their running kit. Please return the vest after the race (someone from our volunteer team will wash them, ready for next year).
Water is provided at the start and finish lines as well as in Ladywell Fields near the twirly bridge (look out for a marshal with a water station set-up). After the race, fruit and a variety of refreshments will be offered. Cakes are free for runners!
When and where should I go for the start of the race?
Racers should go to Torridon Primary School's main gate on Torridon Road near the mini-roundabout, and go into the playground to register and pick up your vest and race number.
Registration - between 8:30-9:00am - collect your race number and vest
Warm-up - 9:00am
Race start - 9:15am
Where can I leave my belongings while I'm racing?
If possible, please arrange for a friend or family member to be responsible for your belongings. However, you can leave items by the registration table at Torridon - we'll have bags out to put your things in. They'll be transported over to Sandhurst for you to collect after the race. Please be advised, we cannot be held liable for any damage or loss, so it's at your own risk.
What's the course route?
The route for both the 10k and the half-marathon is detailed on the map above or downloadable as a PDF here. Starting at Torridon, follow the course clockwise towards Forster Park then onwards to Waterlink Way and Ladywell Fields; crossing Lewisham High Street, follow Hither Green Lane back across the South Circular, finishing on Minard Road outside Sandhurst.
The 10k is a single loop. The half-marathon is a double loop, with the extra distance made up between the two schools on the second loop. Half-marathoners: after passing Sandhurst School on Minard Road for the first time, turn left down Sandhurst Road, right on Broadfield Road, run all the way up to take a right on Hazelbank Road, then along past Torridon School to pick up the 10k loop again.
Runners and walkers - please familiarise yourself with the course before the race. There may not be marshals at all major turning points and the chalked arrows on the ground to keep you on course are subject to weather conditions!
Where can I watch the race?
Bring your family, neighbours and friends to cheer on the racers anywhere along the course. Then join us at the finish line on Minard Road outside Sandhurst Primary School for the celebratory Play Street.
What is a Play Street?
A Play Street is a temporary road closure that provides a safe, traffic-free street for children to play while grownups spend time together. Our Corbett Chase Play Street will celebrate the racers’ achievements with a fun morning full of cakes and community spirit. Enjoy a hot drink and treat from our cake stall while you get to know fellow parents and locals.
Minard Road between Sandhurst and Brownhill Roads will be closed to traffic from 9:30 to 12:30 (allowing 30 minutes before and after the event for set-up and clean-up). Marshals will be on hand to monitor the closure area and escort any drivers who need access.
This is a big event run entirely by volunteers from Torridon and Sandhurst Primary Schools. We need lots of help to pull it off! Volunteer opportunities include:
Set-up team to help with registration (signing runners in, handing out numbers and race vests); setting up water stations; setting up post-race refreshments; taking racers' belonging from the start to a designated spot near the finish line
Marshals to direct runners along the race course
Bakers to donate treats for the bake sale
Cashiers and servers to run the bake sale
Play Street volunteers to marshal the road closure and help with activities
If you're available for any time between 8am and 12:30, we'd be grateful for your help!
